It's Derby Week - Where the horses are fast, the Bourbon is chilled and the hats are BIG

Depending on where you are located, the 140th Run for the Roses may not be on your radar. But in the south...we are amping up for the "Greatest Two Minutes in Sports"

I am obviously referring to the Kentucky Derby

This is the time of year when Bourbon is King and he gets snuggly with his lady seersucker to sit back and watch the Horses. Don't forget the hats though..they are a huge part of the Derby.

Lets begin with BOURBON and the official drink of the day, the Mint Julep

Check out Waiting On Martha for some delicious twists on the traditional Mint Julep

Not only does the Derby have a traditional drink but it also has a traditional Pie

Next we have the Fashion of the Derby

You will see men in seersucker and hats

You can get all your fashion needs met from the official site for the style of the Derby Vineyard and Vines.

But you must find your own Hat style

This year we are attending a party to celebrate the event. The party is hosted by a lovely couple in our Suppa Club (more on that later). Mr. Frenchie (yankee through and through) purchased his first piece of seersucker and a bow tie! Thrilled? You have no idea how thrilled I am. Wonderfully Lost and I have borrowed some very fancy hats from a neighbor of mine who has quite the collection. Each of her hats are lovely in very distinct ways.  Trying them on was a pretty fabulous event too! Nothing like sipping on wine whilst trying on big hats then retiring to the large front porch for rocking and chatting. Did I mention we are  all now southern? You can't hear it but these words drip off my tongue like molasses while I type.

So as you can see, this is a big weekend. I hope you will tune in and enjoy the festivities. I know we will be glued to the screen (possibly one eyed...depending on the bourbon) for the entire 2 minutes!
Cheers!

Here comes Peter Cottontail

Happy Easter Everyone!
I hope your Easter was filled with family, fellowship, and of course good friends and food.
Ours sure was :)
Church was packed (as usual), the music was wonderful, and the kids were just so darn cute! We celebrated Easter with a Moon Street gaarden party that even included some seersucker (every man in the south should own seersucker (according to the Southerners Handbook from Garden and Gun) and I agree!  Our new bunny enjoyed the day with fresh clover and lots of love. Enjoy!

Beautiful Memories :)

Don't want to be an actor pretending on the stage

Don't want to be a writer with my thoughts out on the page
Don't want to be a painter 'cause everyone comes to look
Don't want to be anything where my life's an open book

A dream it's true
But I'd see it through
If I could be
Wasting my time with you

Don't want to be a farmer working in the sun
Don't want to be an outlaw always on the run
Don't want to be a climber reaching for the top
Don't want to be anything where I don't know when to stop

A dream it's true
But I'd see it through
If I could be
Wasting my time with you

So if I'm inside your head
Don't believe what you might have read
You'll see what I might have said
To hear it

Come waste your time with me
Come waste your time with me

So if I'm inside your head
Don't believe what you might have read
You'll see what I might have said
To hear it

Come waste your time with me
Come waste your time with me
Come waste your time with me
Come waste your time with me

Come waste your time with me

Lovely Sunday afternoon meal

Shrimp Scampi - yum yum perfect spring meal!

After slaving in the yard all weekend Frenchie continued to work his magic, but this time in the kitchen!
typical I know :)

He literally threw together shelled and de-veined shrimp, chardonnay to taste, angel hair pasta (because he says I hate angel hair and babies breath), butter, butter and more butter, fresh garlic, salt, pepper, Parmesan cheese and fresh from our garden parsley.  It was to die for!  He really outdid himself (well who am I kidding..he is always an awesome chef!!)

Minifur had her own creation too, angel hair pasta with Parmesan cheese and hot dogs HAHAHA
bon appetit!

That's why I'm easy.....

What a wonderful weekend and even more wonderful Sunday morning. Our previous week was filled with sickness, missed work, potential health issues...but then the weekend came. Everything blooming, the warmth of the sun on your bare shoulders, a nice run, fresh eggs, planting flowers, visiting with friends, enjoying realllllly wonderful food and having a great cup of coffee on a quiet Sunday morning while the air is still cool :)

Mini Mini Teeny Tiny Whirlwind Vacation

This week my client team and I traveled to sunny Florida for a meeting. Twenty-four hours. Super fast, super fun, mini-vacation. We had good food, saw amazing people we haven't seen in a while, met new people that seem pretty great and made hilarious memories with some awesome friends:)

E and I somehow woke early enough to watch the sunrise. I also attempted running on the beach for the first time and had NO idea how difficult it was. Pretty sure if you saw me you would have laughed (think Phoebe on friends but if she was being chased by Godzilla).

Frenchie, Minifur and I watched the sunrise together via facetime. Mini could see the waves, birds, and shells. She thought it was really cool but the sun was "too bright" for her morning eyes hahahaha.

All in all the meeting went well and the vacay part was pretty awesome even if it was for only a moment. And as much fun as it was, I was so glad to be home with my little family :)
TGIF!!!!!
